As a shoulder season, March means that it’s either spring or autumn somewhere in the world. In Malaysia it’s dry season, so if you’re looking for an exotic beach break with a splash of culture, you could head to stunning Langkawi for a week or so before heading into the Cameron Highlands to see the area’s rainforests, rivers and tea plantations. Most of South-East Asia is also good at this time of year and another wonderful destination for adventurous honeymooners is Laos. Less geared up to tourism than Thailand and Vietnam, it is a truly fascinating country that will appeal to couples looking to get slightly off-the-beaten track. March is the middle of Laos’ dry season, when the weather is warm (November-February can be cold at night) and the perfect time to cruise the Mekong River, visit Luang Prabang and see the islands in the south of the country.
It’s also the end of the dry season in the Maldives with lovely, sunny weather and beautifully calm seas, which is great for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. The Maldives offer a whole range of properties from truly awe-inspiring, cutting-edge resorts to stylish all-inclusives. If you love hotels, beaches and water, and just want to lay back and recover from the wedding, you’ll be more than happy. Similarly, it’s a good time to visit Mauritius or the Caribbean, although keep an eye on school holidays, as over Easter, prices can rocket.
March is a great time to head down under with Australia and New Zealand still boasting great weather minus the crowds that you can get in mid summer. Explore New Zealand's stunning landscapes, enjoy fabulous food and wine and adventure activities galore, or head to Australia where cosmopolitan cities, fabulous islands and beaches and the awe-inspiring outback all await!
Finally, it’s a great time of year to go on safari, so think about South Africa, Kenya or Tanzania if you want an adventure to remember.
