Modern cities, majestic mountains and endless beaches
Days 1 - 2 Kuala Lumpur On arrival in the modern Malaysian capital, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The following morning you will begin your exploration of this fascinating city. Visit Merdeka Square (the centre of activities and celebrations in Kuala Lumpur), the National Museum and the distinct Moorish style Railway Station, renowned for its many cupolas, minarets and Arabic arches, as well as the King’s Palace. You will have the opportunity to stop and admire the architecture of the ultra modern skyscrapers that have become the symbol of the city: the Petronas Twin Towers. Later on, a night tour will include the Sri Maha Mariamman Hindu temple and a delicious Malay dinner accompanied by a colourful cultural performance. 2 nights - Hotel Maya Days 3 - 4 Malacca Drive from KL to historic Malacca with your guide, stopping for a Peranakan lunch en route. This famous cuisine derives from Malacca and is a fusion of Malay and Straits born Chinese food. Once in Malacca, visit the port for some panoramic views of the city before climbing St Paul’s Hill to Fort de Santiago. Later, see famous Jonker Street, otherwise known as ‘Antique Row’ before visiting a Chinese temple, a local Mosque and a church – which truly reflect the multicultural roots of the region. On your second day cruise the Malacca River before enjoying a trishaw ride to a converted villa, now an interesting museum. Finally take in the breathtaking views over to the Straits of Malacca from the impressive Menara Taming Sari 110 metre high revolving gyro tower – the first of its kind in Malaysia. 2 nights - The Majestic Malacca Day 5 - 6 Cameron Highlands Today you will head by road to the mountainous area of the Cameron Highlands, stopping for lunch en route. On arrival you will visit a tea plantation (except on Mondays). The following day explore the various farms that thrive in the cool climate of the highlands such as those which cultivate roses, vegetable, strawberries and even butterflies. 2 nights - Cameron Highlands Days 7 - 8 Penang Today your driver will take you to Ipoh, where you will visit the famous cave temples and the magnificent Ubudiah Mosque, eventually arriving in Penang in the evening. The following day enjoy a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town – a living museum filled with colonial houses and fantastic food. Visit the State Museum, Little India and the oldest Anglican Church in the region. You will also explore some of the island’s craft workshops as well as having plenty of time at leisure to enjoy the beaches. 2 nights - Cheong Fatt Tze Mansions Days 9 - 12 Langkawi Take a flight to Langkawi, where you will stay at one of this idyllic island's most beautiful resorts. Apart from enjoying the beautiful beach there is plenty to see and do on the island. At the end of your trip, fly back to the UK via Kuala Lumpur. 2 nights - The Datai
