The Datai is consistently rated as one of the world’s best hotels. Set on a picture perfect private bay on the island of Langkawi, the Datai’s sister property, the Andaman, is the only other sign of life on this otherwise deserted beach. The main part of this resort is split into four blocks which house 54 Deluxe rooms and 13 Suites. Deluxe rooms are divided into two areas –a combined bedroom and living room as well as a generous bathroom. The décor is an understated Asian chic, with teak wood, lush fabrics and wood-panelled walls. Each room has a balcony. Scattered elsewhere around the spacious grounds are the free-standing Superior and Pool Villas. These are well-proportioned rooms with enormous bathrooms, recently renovated. Each Pool Villa boasts a private plunge pool with Jacuzzi and day bed. In-room amenities include flatscreen television, Bose CD player, DVD player and Lavazzo coffee machines. The hotel itself has two beautiful swimming pools, one by the main building and one by the beach. There are several restaurants offering authentic Thai cuisine, Malaysian and international delights plus a Beach Club for dining by the sea. Guests can also use the restaurants at the nearby Andaman Hotel or even dine on an historic private boat for a romantic and unique experience. The spa is also excellent, with four spa villas built over a picturesque stream in a semi-open design, to ensure that you can relax to the sounds of the jungle.
