Bon Ton Resort

Built within the grounds of a 100 year old coconut plantation, the owners of Bon Ton have created a completely unique boutique resort, oozing with charm, colour and character.

The resort consists of seven antique Malay kampong (village) houses, all of which were purchased from villagers around Malaysia and painstakingly rebuilt on site at the resort adding all modern amenities including hot water, air conditioning, and DVD/CD players. However, Bon Ton is not suited for those looking for the traditional comforts of a five star hotel. There are no television channels in the rooms and some of the bathrooms are semi-outdoor. The décor differs from room to room and each one is a colourful mixture of Malaysian textiles, antique furniture, wooden floors, mosquito nets, rattan ceilings, bright cushions and vibrant art work. All have outdoor decks and the resort is centred around an infinity edge swimming pool, which overlooks a non-swimming lagoon.

The resort is also renowned for its superb dining, which is complemented by an extensive wine cellar. The cuisine is an amazing mix of Nyonya (Malay Chinese fusion), traditional Malay, Indonesian, Mediterranean, Arabic, Indonesian and Thai styles. An antique Chinese shophouse is the venue for after dinner drinks.

Although Bon Ton is located half a kilometre away from the beach, free shuttles are provided. The resort is also ideal for animal lovers, since it doubles as an animal sanctuary for a variety of Langkawi’s cats and dogs.

PRICES Prices start from £41 per person per night in the Blue Ginger Villa or £71 per person per night in the Silk Villa, based on two people sharing, including breakfast.
