Sail on a converted rice barge through the Four Thousand Islands in the Mekong
Explore the wonders of Southern Laos from the deck of this twelve cabin converted rice barge. Southern Laos has a magical atmosphere – ancient ruins with a Lost City feel, tiny islands with no electricity, rural villages with no vehicles and welcoming inhabitants, this is a truly unspoiled and special destination. There is no better way to experience Southern Laos than from the Wat Phou Rice Barge. Named after the pre-Angkorian ruins at Wat Phou, the boat was a traditional rice barge, but has now been converted to provide comfortable cabins for your two night stay. The 34 metre vessel is crafted from rich woods and the large decks are furnished with bamboo and rattan furniture, creating an elegant and colonial style atmosphere. Each of the 12 compact cabins has two single berths, white linen, air-conditioning and a private en suite bathroom. On board, relax and soak in the views as you sail past life on the banks of the Mekong. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets from the upper deck, with a gin and tonic in hand, or sample a Lao style massage. The food is a superb mix of Lao and international cuisine and is a particular highlight.
