One of Luang Prabang’s original boutique hotels, Les 3 Nagas is still one of the most characterful options available in this peaceful town and offers an unbeatable location. Now expanded to encompass buildings on both side of the road, Les 3 Nagas is made up of original wooden houses, built in a true Lao style and now converted into a chic and welcoming boutique hotel. The original building is called the Lamache House and dates back to 1898. It is an exquisitely restored, two storey villa, unmistakably Lao, housing seven rooms in total. Dark wooden beams have been left deliberately exposed, four poster beds are artfully draped with stylish mosquito nets and each room has a private terrace or balcony. Just across the road, the newer villa is more French in style and is home to the reception area and a further eight rooms. This is called the Khamboua House and dates back to 1903. Both houses have their own restaurants, one featuring fine Lao cuisine and the other a more traditional French menu. Although the hotel does not have a swimming pool, its excellent location and warmth of character make it one of the best choices in Luang Prabang. Sit on your balcony or in the hotel’s gardens and watch life pass you gently by.
