Borana Lodge is located on a working cattle ranch on the Laikipia Plateau, adjacent to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. More than just a lodge, Borana offers a fascinating insight into the ‘way of life’ of its owners and hosts - Fuzz and Bimbi Dyer - who are third generation Kenyans.

Built mainly from fallen cedar and natural materials, the lodge blends perfectly with the craggy stone outcrops of the escarpment. Large windows in the drawing room provide a wide panoramic vista across the vast plains.

Six thatched cottages surround the main lodge and although luxuriously furnished, still evoke an ‘authentic wilderness’ ambience. Breathtaking views of Mount Kenya can be enjoyed from each of the 'African-styled' ensuite chalets, where even the finest detail has been considered - from rustic artefacts and old Indian teak doorframes to cosy fireplaces and scented bath essence!

You can cool off in the ‘horizon’ swimming pool, sip cocktails by the roaring fire - and eat and drink to your heart's content. Your early morning cup of tea is served with freshly baked muffins whilst the farm fresh meals are 'on par' with those of a traditional French country inn.

This unique wilderness lodge is best explored on horseback, whilst game drives in the company of expert rangers and trackers, walks through the hills and visits to a local village are also available.

Access to Borana is via a scheduled flight to Lewa followed by a road transfer or, by private charter directly to the lodge.

PRICES

Prices from £220 per person per night twin share including all meals, local beverages, game activities, guided walks and airstrip transfers. The private charter or scheduled flight is additional. Closed April, May and November.
