July is a lovely time of year to be heading on honeymoon. And, if you’re looking for adventure, then going on safari is one of the greatest experiences you could ever have. July is the start of the great wildebeest migration in Kenya’s Masai Mara, when thousands of animals begin to arrive from the Serengeti, with the height of migration taking place between August and September. It’s a phenomenal sight and one that can be seen in both Kenya and neighbouring Tanzania. Having seen the animals, you can then hit the beach, teaming your wildlife-watching adventure with a trip to Zanzibar or Pemba. Zanzibar offers an exotic blend of Arabic and African culture with great beaches and diving thrown into the mix and is the perfect add-on to a Kenyan or Tanzanian safari. Spend time in the bustling capital Stone Town where you can explore windy streets, discover crumbling palaces and sip cocktails on rooftops overlooking the sea, before hitting the beach and relaxing.
If you like the idea of a beach break, then there are some other great choices for July honeymooners. It’s high season in Indonesia, which means that it’s the perfect time of year to visit Bali (although be warned the prices will be high). One of the most inviting places in the world, Bali offers a little something for everyone with the luxurious hotels, stunning beaches and a wealth of cultural attractions. See it all if you are happy to travel around and combine your Balinese beach with the lush heartland of Ubud and the islands of Lombok and Gili.
It’s also a great time of year to visit the islands of the South Pacific. Stunningly beautiful and wonderfully captivating, these are the islands that honeymoon dreams are made out of! Whether it be one of Tahiti's 118 lush mountainous islands or idyllic atolls, a charming Fijian tropical island with the most friendly islanders you can ever imagine or one of the laid-back Cook Islands, the South Pacific is a honeymoon experience like no other!
Finally, if you want somewhere a little closer to home, how about Mauritius, which has good weather throughout the year (although the west coast is better in our summer)? However be aware of school holidays. Mauritius is a very family-friendly island; so if you are travelling in the summer, choose your hotel carefully.
