Romance meets affordable style at Tokoriki Island Resort which nestles in the northern Mamanuca Islands, just 15 minutes by seaplane or helicopter from Viti Levu, Fiji's main island. Tokoriki offers 29 stylish Deluxe Beach Bures and 5 stunning Sunset Pool Villas (which we highly recommend) – all of which enjoy a fabulous beachfront location. Each has air-conditioning, a kingsize bed, spacious bathroom, private outdoor shower and a relaxing sundeck with views looking out across the ocean. The décor is warm, soft and romantic – natural tones have been used to create a refreshing, contemporary and intimate feel. The Sunset Pool Villas benefit from a separate bedroom and living area and their own infinity edged plunge pool. The resort is located on the western side of the island on a stretch of white sand known to the locals as Liku Beach (meaning Sunset Beach) – and naturally, all bures are perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the magnificent dusk sky as each day draws to a close. Tokoriki is surrounded by a beautiful tropical reef and a sparkling lagoon – perfect for snorkelling, diving and swimming. The resort has a PADI dive facility – there are some excellent dive sites no more than 5 - 10 minutes away. You can also go sailing, kayaking and game fishing. If you insist on being active, there’s tennis and volleyball – and for early morning risers, there’s a challenging hike to the top of the island’s hill – the stunning views from the summit make it all worthwhile! There is also a small spa and a wonderful horizon swimming pool. A ‘favourite’ for Tokoriki guests is a visit to the nearby uninhabited island of Monuriki (just a short boat ride away), one of the islands used in the filming of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Castaway’ starring Tom Hanks. Honeymooners and hopeless romantics will also love the 'honeymoon island picnic' – an afternoon playing Robinson Crusoe on your own deserted beach! Most of the Tokoriki staff live on the neighbouring island of Yanuya – and a ‘must’ is a visit to their traditional Fijian village. The smiling faces of the local children will provide lasting memories! For those looking to get married in the South Seas, Tokoriki has its very own chapel – featuring traditional Fijian stonework, stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings – and a wonderful outlook! Dining on the island is a casual affair with meals usually served ‘alfresco’ – under the shade of the palm trees or beneath a blanket of stars. Tokoriki is ideally suited to romantic couples seeking a relaxing island escape – children under the age of 12 years are not catered for.
