It’s miserable in the UK and sunny abroad, so all in all a great time to go on honeymoon! Another advantage with travelling in February is that it’s generally cheaper than in early-mid January when the end of the New Year holiday rush can push prices up and availability down.
Australia is a great option for honeymooners; there are fewer tourists than in January and if you travel towards the end of the month, Australian children are back to school meaning that popular holiday spots are quieter than before. New Zealand is equally fabulous in February - with warm summer weather, it’s a great time if you want to get out and about and explore. New Zealand’s stunning landscapes – beaches, lakes, rivers, volcanoes, mountains, glaciers and geo-thermal regions – are all easily accessible by car and there are many wonderful boutique hideaways, making this the perfect self-drive honeymoon!
If you like the idea of an active honeymoon, but don’t want to travel as far as Australasia, then you could head to Kenya, the home of the safari. While there’s no bad time of year to go to Kenya due to it’s position on the equator, February is great for game viewing as it’s dry season. This means that the animals congregate around watering holes and are easy to spot. Combine a safari with the beach (on the Kenyan coast or on Zanzibar) or visit different areas of the country such as the Masai Mara, Samburu and Mount Kilimanjaro. Also consider neighbouring Tanzania (January -March is the hottest time of year and great for game viewing) or a South Africa/Mozambique combination.
Of course, if that just sounds too active, then hop on a plane to the idyllic Maldives, the Seychelles, Mauritius or the Caribbean. Barbados and the Cayman Islands are particularly good to visit in February, as they’re quieter and more affordable than over the busy Christmas/New Year period. And, of course there’s always South-East Asia where the stunning beaches, fascinating culture and mouth-watering cuisine will keep any honeymoon couple happy.
Where to go... February is a great time to travel down -under, those visting friends and famly have disappeared after Christmas and the weather is fantastic. Don't the Indian Ocean or East Africa both of which sizzle in the February sun.
