It’s cold, wet and gloomy at home, so a hot honeymoon in December makes perfect sense. Although, be aware that Christmas and New Year can mean that for certain destinations it is one of the most expensive times of year to travel. The key is to book ahead and speak to Turquoise about finding the best destinations and properties for your budget.
The Caribbean is particularly busy and expensive the nearer to Christmas you get, but weather-wise it’s a great time to visit. Barbados is style-central with fabulous hotels, restaurants and beaches, and a great social atmosphere during the festive period.
The Maldives, the Seychelles and South-East Asia are also popular in December, getting busier and pricier the closer to Christmas you get. Thailand, is particularly lovely and gives couples the chance to experience a three-stop honeymoon to Chiang Mai, Bangkok and one of the beach hotspots like Koh Samui or Phuket.
December also means summer time in Australia and New Zealand, so if you’re planning a honeymoon to the Southern Hemisphere, book your flights as early as possible. If you’re heading to Oz, your options are endless - mix and match from vibrant cities, coastal beaches, offshore islands, wine regions, the outback or the rainforest. If stunning scenery is what you are after, then New Zealand should also be high on your honeymoon wish-list - think mountains, lakes, beaches, fiords and glaciers, not to mention superb food and wine and wonderful little retreats!
And, if you are heading Down Under, how about a stop in Hong Kong? Here you’ll find a fascinating blend of Chinese and British culture, and the old and the new. Fast-paced and fashionable this is a place to shop ‘til you drop, dine out at fabulous restaurants and watch the old-world mingle with the new. While humid year round, our winter months are the best time to visit.
Where to go... A Christmas honeymoon on the beach perfection. Think about South Africa or the Caribbean - or the ultimate trip down under - our honeymoon team will create the perfect honeymoon and give you the ideas to inspire you.
