Located 37 miles east of Siem Reap and away from the main Angkor temple complex, Beng Melea is an ‘undiscovered’ jungle temple, and is the perfect place to indulge your Indiana Jones fantasies. Easily combined with the Roluos Group for a full day out, or simply visited in its own right with a stop off at a local market in the town of Dom Dek. The road beyond the Roluos Group becomes a typically bumpy Cambodian road, adding to the sense of adventure. The temple has had a wooden walkway built through it although exploring by scrambling over the rubble is much more fun! Enjoy a traditional Khmer picnic in the grounds of this atmospheric place and savour being away from the tourist crowds.
