Situated in the Vumbura Reserve, a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta, this stylish camp proudly boasts the same designers as North Island in the Seychelles. Clean, smooth, minimalist and authentic – a real sense of space, privacy and relaxation prevails. The camp’s magnificent location on Kaparota lagoon, with views across a vast and attractive floodplain – yet close to the Delta’s outermost dry savannahs and woodland – means that it offers the perfect mix of both land and water based activities. The reserve spans an area of close to 130,000 acres – and it not only hosts a superb variety of habitats – but also an amazing diversity of wildlife and bird species. This is possibly the only area in the Okavango where you can see Red Lechwe (an animal which inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and a Sable antelope (which enjoys the dry countryside) on the same game drive. Add to this lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo, along with the plains game, and you can be assured of an excellent wildlife experience. Vumbura Plains is actually divided into two camps (Vumbura Plains South and Vumbura Plains North) – both of which comprise seven luxury tented rooms under thatch, raised off the ground on wooden decks and linked by boardwalks. The main dining and public area is tucked beneath a canopy of cool, shady trees. Each tented suite is enormous (88 square metres in size) with an expansive deck, a private plunge pool, an indoor and outdoor shower, a sala, ottomans and indulgent cushions carefully strewn for stargazing. There is also a swimming pool.
