August is a perfect time to visit the South Pacific. While further away than some destinations, if you have the time (and the budget), these paradise islands are sure to provide a truly heavenly honeymoon! There are literally hundreds of islands to choose from - with jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery (pristine palm-lined beaches, brilliant turquoise lagoons and lush mountains), a wonderfully unhurried pace of life and some of the most beautiful hideaways imaginable! Whether you choose Tahiti, Fiji, the Cook Islands or lesser known Samoa, rest assured you will have the honeymoon of your dreams!
While it is winter in South Africa there are still great reasons to head south on honeymoon in August. July- November is whale-watching season in South Africa and August is the height of the birthing season. This is a great time of year to drive the Garden Route and visit Hermanus where you can watch these spectacular creatures in the water. Also, bear in mind that whilst it will be chilly, it is a great time to go on safari. Game viewing in South Africa is good in August as it’s dry, the grass is short and the wildlife converge on the water holes, making the animals easy to spot. Also, consider Kenya or Tanzania where the weather is a little warmer and the migration season is in full swing.
A great thing about going away in August is that if you travel to off-season destinations you can make amazing savings. While it is rainy season in places such as The Maldives, it’s good to remember that tropical islands can have rain at any time (including dry seasons) and in many places, rainy season doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have rain all day, every day. In fact our summer months (the traditional Maldivian rainy season) can be a good time to travel – the weather may be poor, but prices reflect this so you can get some great deals if you don’t mind risking unpredictable weather.
Where to go... Have a look at Birkenhead House in South Africa a dream honeymoon destination August is right in the middle of whale watching season and they pass through the bay in front of the Hotel. How about Bali combine it with Singapore for a touch of the exotic.
