If you’re getting married in April, it is a great time to honeymoon in the South Pacific as it’s the start of the dry season yet you still benefit from shoulder season prices. While you can visit year-round, this time of year promises less humidity and less chance of thundery showers. Although further to go and more expensive than some other destinations, these idyllic islands really are honeymoon heaven! With their paradise beaches, breathtaking lagoons and idyllic hideaways, the South Pacific (Tahiti, Fiji, Cook Islands and Samoa) offers a Robinson Crusoe experience unrivalled anywhere else.
Parts of Asia including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam are also good at this time of year. Due to the long, narrow shape of Vietnam, it’s best to think of it in sections – north, central and south – with different regions offering different monsoons and weather patterns. April – early June is a good time to visit the north of the country, after the chilly winter and before the heavy onset of the summer monsoon. A really fascinating part of the world, you can go trekking in the hills, visit beautiful Hanoi (tipped as the world’s next ‘It’ city) and relax amongst the incredible limestone rock formations of Halong Bay.
In Southern Africa, it’s the start of the cooler, dry season, although April is still pretty warm. Mozambique is wonderful at this time of year. Heaven for beach lovers, it offers wonderfully romantic resorts, amazing coral reefs and a relaxed, friendly feel. It also makes a great twin with a South African or Kenyan safari.
Where to go... April is South Pacific time the airfares are at there lowest - the French have not you arrived in Tahiti for August and the tropical flowers are out across the Pacific. Still a great time for a African safari - Mozambique has some of the best beached in the world.
