Discover a side of Fiji too often overlooked by the international visitor
This unforgettable journey takes you through the heart of Viti Levu’s lush interior where you will discover a side of Fiji too often overlooked by the international visitor – a Fiji far removed from its white sand beaches and crystal clear coral reefs. The day begins with an overland drive through the island’s rainforest into the Namosi Highlands. Admire the breathtaking coastal views as you descend into the beautiful Namosi Valley where your destination is the quaint village of Nakavika. Here you will be welcomed with a traditional kava ceremony in the home of the village chief – after which it’s time for a short walk to the Wainikoroiluva River (known locally as the ‘Luva’) where the experienced Rivers Fiji team will be waiting to greet you! Following a brief training session, you will be ready to discover the Class II white-water rapids and rock mazes of the ‘Luva’ River on board your inflatable kayak. A well-earned lunch stop provides an opportunity for a hike to a dramatic waterfall where there will be time for a rejuvenating dip in the plunge pool below! Then swap your inflatable kayak for a motorised longboat for the final leg of the journey along the lower Navua River – past more cascading waterfalls and remote local villages. The trip departs from Pacific Harbour at 8am. Pickup from First Landing is at 5:15am and from Myola Plantation at 6:30am. Under certain circumstances, such as family bookings or during periods of extreme high water, white water rafts will be used instead of inflatable kayaks.
