Avoid the crowds with our expert guides
With over a thousand temples in various states of decay and covering an area of over one hundred square kilometres, discovering Angkor can be a daunting task. Our guides at Angkor have all undergone extensive training to become specialists in the fascinating history, architecture and culture of this amazing site. You may wish simply to allow your guide to show you his or her personal favourite temples from the well known to the tucked away. Alternatively, do your own research and discuss with your guide what it is exactly that you wish to get out of your visit, whether it is a romantic moment, a perfect photo or a spot of history. The key when touring Angkor is to be flexible – it will help in avoiding the crowds if you do not stick to a set itinerary, since many large tour groups follow a set route. Should you arrive at a temple with a large crowd, your guide will simply steer you away and suggest returning at a quieter moment. Whilst it is usually best to avoid the temples at midday due to the heat, this can often be one of the quieter times to explore and it is well worth getting up early for sunrise, which is a magical experience at this breathtaking complex.
