Sister hotel to the chic Hotel de le Paix, the Shinta Mani is a much smaller and more intimate property. With only 18 rooms, the atmosphere is relaxed and warm. Furthermore, the hotel doubles as a hospitality institute. Students are selected by various local charities and are usually orphans or from disadvantaged backgrounds. They undertake a two year diploma at the hotel, under the auspices of fully trained staff and all costs are covered by profits from the hotel as well as donations from private individuals. This is an excellent way to enjoy the best of Cambodian hospitality whilst also ensuring that the local community benefits from your stay. Rooms are in a similar design to the Hotel de la Paix but with the warm addition of some tasteful Khmer fabrics. The swimming pool is at the centre of the hotel and is an excellent place to cool down after the heat of touring Angkor. There is a relaxing spa which offers massage and other treatments. Above all, the hotel has an excellent reputation for food, sharing the same chef as the Hotel de la Paix. The restaurant is a popular one with a modern and interesting menu, fusing Khmer and international cuisine. There is a strong focus on stylish presentation of the dishes.
