Outback, Wildlife & Beach!
Day 1: Majestic Roof Garden Hotel, Adelaide Arrive in Adelaide and stay at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel. Days 2-4 : Arkaba Station, Flinders Ranges Enjoy the 5 hour drive to Arkaba Station (stop for lunch in the Clare Valley or at the colourful North Star Hotel in Melrose). Over the next few days explore Arkaba, a Arkaba is a 60,000 acre sheep ‘station’ and the Flinders Ranges. Day 5 : The Louise, Barossa Valley Head south again and stay overnight at The Louise in the Barossa Valley – a gourmet retreat renowned for its award-winning Apellation restaurant. Days 6-8 : Seascape Lodge, Kangaroo Island Return to Adelaide and fly to Kangaroo Island to spend 3 nights at Seascape Lodge overlooking the pristine beach at Emu Bay on the island’s sheltered north coast. Join Kangaroo Island Wilderness Tours for 2 days of small group touring with a local knowledgeable guide – if you want to see koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, platypus and sea lions in their native habitat, there is nowhere that comes close to KI (as the locals call it). Days 9-13 : Four Seasons, Sydney Fly back to Adelaide and connect to Sydney for 5 nights at the Four Seasons. Enjoy Australia’s oldest, largest and many would say most beautiful city – take a seaplane flight over Sydney Harbour to lunch on the Hawkesbury River, attend a performance or behind-the-scenes tour at Sydney Opera House, climb Sydney Harbour Bridge or get out on the harbour and enjoy a day’s sailing. Days 14-17 : The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa, Byron Bay Fly to Ballina in northern New South Wales for 4 nights at The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa – a shimmering jewel on this glorious coastline. Byron Bay occupies the most easterly point on the Australian mainland and boasts a population dominated by surfers, hedonists and those after a ‘sea-change’! Great restaurants, beach walks, whale and dolphin-watching (best time – June-Nov), surfing lessons, walks and horse riding trails through rainforest and a hinterland of local markets to explore – are all part of the experience here. This is Australia’s coastal lifestyle at its quirkiest and its best! Day 18 Drive to Brisbane to drop-off your car and board your onward international flight. OR Days 14-17 : Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef Fly to Cairns and join the one hour scenic flight to Lizard Island – one of Australia’s most stylish island retreats in the remote northerly section of the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard is rimmed with 24 powdery white sand beaches and fringed with colourful coral reefs. Lizard revels in its seclusion and yours will be one of 40 contemporary suites and villas.
