Discover the best of The Top End

Lord’s Safaris

Lord’s Safaris were established on a buffalo station that is now part of Kakadu National Park, and is one of only two guided safari companies with privileged access to aboriginal Arnhem Land.

At Injalak Hill, acknowledged as having the best aboriginal rock art sites in Western Arhem Land, Lord’s have trained and employed the local Aboriginal Oenpelli people as custodian guides - inspired to pass on the beliefs depicted in the art, and the know-how of surviving in the rich wetlands.

Safaris are ideally suited to small groups of up to six people – and personalised to suit your interests, time-frame and requirements. You will travel in a comfortable 4WD and accommodation can either be camping or hotels/motels (for an intimate experience of this special part of Australia, it is worth spending a couple of nights under canvas, cooking over a campfire and awakening to the sounds of birdsong).

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Darwin for Kakadu National Park. Visit the Adelaide River and marvel at the jumping crocodiles. After this, enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Yellow Waters Lagoon and witness the wealth of wildlife that call this tranquil habitat home. Overnight: Camping, Kakadu

Day 2

Visit Aboriginal Lands (Arnhem Land). Lords is one of a small number of tour companies with privileged access into Arnhem Land. Experience a fascinating mixture of traditional and living culture as your Aboriginal guide shows you excellent examples of rock art on Injalak Hill. The view from the top of the hill is simply breathtaking, looking out across the floodplains and escarpment.
Overnight: Camping, Kakadu

Day 3

Depart Kakadu for Bamurru Plains - an exclusive wildlife experience on the magnificent Mary River floodplains. This safari-style camp is teeming with an amazing assortment of wildlife and boasts comfortable and spacious free-standing bungalows which expose guests to the sounds of the floodplains.

Overnight: Bamurru Plains

Day 4

This morning, enjoy and airboat ride and 4WD safari before returning to Darwin.
