The Ghan’s timetable fits in perfectly with this unique 3 day Top End Splendour safari to Litchfield and Kakadu, operated by award-winning specialist, Odyssey. You will travel in a 4WD Mitsubishi with a naturalist guide who has a passion for the flora, fauna and natural history of this northern region of Australia. Group size is no more than 10 people. Day 1 (Wednesday or Saturday) Depart Darwin at 7am and head to the beautiful cascading waterfalls of Litchfield National Park for the day. Swim in the plunge pools and walk through the monsoon rainforest before retiring to your overnight accommodation at Lake Bennett Wilderness Resort. (L) Day 2 Continue on to Kakadu today. Explore the southern, less visited region known as Stone Country and visit the spectacular Gunlom Falls (made famous in the film ‘Crocodile Dundee’). Overnight at the Gagudju Lodge Cooinda. (L) Day 3 Early start for a guided cruise on the world famous Yellow Waters to see the myriad birdlife and of course, the awesome saltwater crocodile! After lunch, view ancient Aboriginal rock art beforeheading back to Darwin in the late afternoon. (L)
